WELCOME TO EPIC!
WELCOME TO EPIC!
I began cheering and doing gymnastics at the age of 5. I have always said at a young age that I was going to coach and own my own cheer gym to be able to give young girls the opportunity to be a part of a Family Oriented Organization. I have been to several cheer competitions with All-star Team as well Middle and High School Competitive Teams. Attended Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA where I cheered and become to love the sport even more because of the different style of cheer (HBCU.) When I’m not coaching, I enjoy spending time with her husband, Daughter, Son, her dog Khloe and family. I love the beach, tropical places and Seafood.
“I’m a coach because of the kids and the passion I have for the game and sport itself. There is no better feeling than teaching a child the importance of discipline, hard work, team, effort, dedication, determination and the heart it takes to win not only in the sports, but in life.”
Coach Shay has a long love for cheer and dance since childhood. She has always aspired to give other young girls an opportunity to learn cheer and dance skills who have not been afforded the opportunity to do so. She received her initial training in Thomasville City Schools under the head cheerleading coach’s/coordinator Anyua Clark and Sharon Green.
Since, moving to Durham, North Carolina in 2012, Coach Shay served as the Cheerleading Coordinator and Head Coach for Kestrel Heights High and Middle School Stomp Shake Competitive Team and School Team.
“I have one life and one chance to make it count for something... My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.”
I was a cheerleader for 16 years and has cheered at every level from recreational all the way through college. I have coached All star and school cheer for the past 2 years and I'm also currently the head coach at Carrington middle school. My goal is to make every kid I cross love cheer as much as I did. Make cheer their outlets from life, their happy place. I also am a mom to sweet little boy.
